Transport

Haydon Bridge is located in the beautiful South Tyne valley on the A69 24 miles from the A1 at Newcastle upon Tyne and 29 miles from the M6 at Carlisle. The village is now by-passed and enjoys a quiet heavy transport free environment.

It is well served by other transport with Newcastle Airport about 30 minutes by road with direct flights to and from many UK and European cities and roughly 35 minutes driving time to Carlisle airport with flights to and from London (Southend), Belfast and Dublin.

Haydon Bridge has its own passenger railway station with an improved service to Newcastle upon Tyne for interconnection with the East Coast Mainline and to Carlisle for interconnection with the West Coats Mainline service. This allows links to the South of England and to Glasgow/Edinburgh for Scotland.

Other public transport is by bus with a daytime hourly service via the 85, 685 and X85 services to Hexham and Newcastle in the east and Brampton and Carlisle in the west.

This makes Haydon Bridge a convenient location for visitors to the Roman Wall, Northumberland National Park or North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
